Wahoka Great Coastal Nation!
Chief Eagle of the North brings Good News for those Braves with the courage and stamina to endure Winter Camp in the lair of the Big Bears. We will assemble the sacred Nation Hoop high on the Mountain top above Lake Cedar. I have been to the mountain top, and I speak with straight words when I say this place is awesome. This is sure to be a memorable experience, and I will send my prayers to the powers of the North to bless us with the cold winds and white silence, so we can focus our attention on our sons and Honor them for the Bravery and Kindness in front of the Nation Fire.
We seek young and old braves to win the Special Medicine Man Challenge Award by singing together a song using the Indian Drum. I have a Special Chief’s Award for a brave who can tell me the history, story or words from the language of their tribe. And the coveted Lance Award for the best decorated Lance.
I am seeking young and old Hunters to share their bounty with others in the First Annual BIG TRADE CEREMONY Friday night. This will be during our Nation Dinner Friday when we all sit in a circle and Trade with others and listen with respect as the Chief and Medicine Man present gifts on behalf of anyone who wishes to Honor their Son or Father or Chief or anyone. The Ceremonial Tradition (usually done after a four day fast at a Sundance Ceremony) works like this. We gather for dinner in a circle and sit on the floor as the Longhouse Council serves dinner to you. During this hour, the Chief/Medicine Man will make announcements and present gifts on behalf of others who wish to Honor someone. For instance, a dad wishes to Honor his Son for being a Good Listener, obeying the rules, or treating everyone with respect. He will write this on a note and give it to me with a gift to present like a cool hat or a shirt or toy and tell me who to give it to, perhaps his Chief or Sachem’s son for all the time they put in for the tribe. Whenever that person wears the hat or shirt, he will think of the dad’s Son and what a great kid he is. Usually the person Honored is not the recipient of the Gift. I wish to Honor my son Eddie for his Big generous heart so I will present someone, perhaps a Sachem or War Chief with an Indian Poncho as appreciation for their contributions in Honor of my Son Eddie. They of course will thank Eddie for such a cool gift and for being so generous. During these Honoring announcements, which may take 45 minutes or more, a Trade is permitted in which if someone compliments you about your shirt or hat. You are obliged to give it to them. (don’t wear a Rolex!) You don’t say ‘can I have your hat or I’ll trade you this toy for your hat ’, you say “that is a cool hat”, which means I wish I had a hat like that. The person must give you the item and you should offer them something in return so they can remember it as a Good Trade. Sentimental or Special possesions of course are too personal to give/trade and should not be complimented or asked for.
We will have New Pal Coup Patches to give out at the Nation Campfire to those who have earned them. Please send .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) a list from your tribe of recipients and ranks earned. Also, feathers for those braves who know the AIMS.
Don’t miss this winter camp at CEDAR LAKE. Register Today and receive a limited edition Bear skin t-shirt made with 100% cotton.
Food provided Saturday through Sunday morning. Consult your tribe for Friday nights dinner. As most tribes prefer Friday dinner in town or may be late coming, there will be no Nation dinner Friday night.
